Office Experience
Credits: 10 credits total (5 credits per quarter)

In the Clerical Offices, the following skills are developed: telephone communication techniques, filing, assisting students and parents at the counter and occasional practice with office machines. This experience is extremely valuable for students interested in working in a business environment.
Peer Tutoring

Prerequisites: Counselor Approval, AB 1012 Form, Contract with Teacher Signed
Peer Tutors are an active member of Jefferson High School by creating a sense of school belonging in the classroom in a course in which they have demonstrated academic success. A key component to the Peer Tutoring program is to add academic support to the freshman and sophomore grade level required courses. This course is offered to junior or senior students providing them with the platform to get involved and give back, demonstrate citizenship, become active in the school community, enhance their resume or college application and earn community service hours and school credit. This course is available in all disciplines and can be repeated for credit up to a total of 20 Max credits. Specific responsibilities are outlined by the individual teacher within the course. Daily attendance is taken by the teacher and Peer Tutors earn up 1 service hour a day in class. Seniors who have logged 100+ hours of community service while in high school will be recognized in their graduation year at Senior Awards Night and in the graduation program.

Student Government/Leadership is a one year project-based course aimed at increasing students' leadership capabilities. Through the planning and execution of numerous events for the school, students will discover how to best effect change in their communities. Students will read extensively about the nature of leadership and its different styles. Additionally, students will frequently write critically, reflectively, persuasively and speak about the real world issues that arise from the planning of school wide and class events and or fundraisers. Students will learn the following leadership skills: project planning and implementation, problem solving, public speaking, Communication, Personal & Social Development, Civic & Service Learning, Government, Business & Finance, and Technology & Digital Citizenship.

Grizzly P.A.W.s (Peer Assistance for Wellness)

Prerequisites: Teacher Approval
The Peer Helpers curriculum is designed to teach students the skills necessary to help other students who are struggling with challenging issues in their lives. Students will become proficient in conflict mediation, peer listening, peer education and mentoring. There will also be education on such issues as anger management, drug/alcohol issues, grief/loss and child abuse. Upon completion of learned skills, the students will demonstrate their competencies by working with students within our school community.
Yearbook
Yearbook (Advanced Journalism) - College Prep

Meets CSU/US Requirements: Area "G"
Yearbook will focus on project-based learning with the overall objective for the students to develop a yearbook publication. Students will develop their skills in graphic design, writing and build the understanding of the economics involved with creating and marketing a published item. Be a part of a class that creates a life long lasting product that will bring back the unique and fun memories of people's high school experience and build the skills to prepare you for a wide variety of future jobs!
